Verb Definition:

The verb is a word that is used to show action is called a verb

There are three kinds of verb:

1. Transitive Verb 2. Intransitive verb 3. Helping verbs

Kinds of verb



Transitive verb:

The kinds of verb that shows the complete meaning of the sentence is called a transitive verb or a meaningful sentence is called a transitive verb.

Transitive verb examples:

  • I ate food.
  • He broke the cup.
  • He stopped the bike.
  • He wrote a book.

Intransitive verb:

The kinds of verb that does not show the complete meaning of the sentence is called an intransitive verb or an unmeaningful sentence is called an intransitive verb.

Intransitive verb examples:

  • He wrote.
  • I play.
  • She sleeps.
  • I walk

Helping verbs:

The helping verbs are the words that are used in tenses.

We are making a house.
We shall go to Hospital.
In the above examples the kinds of verb "helping verb" are "is, am, are".
